Both apps read your photos on the phone.
Rebuilding past trips from photo locations is common now, and both apps do it without uploading your pictures. The difference is what happens afterwards. Countr's statistics service is built to drop every country, date, coordinate and time zone before anything is sent.

Apple shows a privacy label on every App Store page. Open "App Privacy" and read the "Data Used to Track You" part. On 30 September 2026, Bounded's label listed location there. Labels change, so check the current one before you decide.
